Launching Programs from a CD-ROM

Once installed, the CD-ROM program will usually add a Shortcut to launch the CD-ROM direct from the Desktop. In this case, insert the CD-ROM into the CD drive and double-click its Shortcut. The program will now launch.

If there is no Shortcut on the Desktop:

  1. Insert the CD-ROM into the CD drive.
  2. Click the Start button at the bottom left of the screen.
  3. From the pop-up menu, select Programs.
  4. In the sub-menu that appears, the name of the CD-ROM program will be listed - though on some installations the manufacturer's name is used instead. For example, in the case of Microsoft Encarta, it is listed as Microsoft Reference - and once you select this, Microsoft Encarta will appear in another sub-menu. Move your mouse cursor over Encarta and click.
  5. The CD-ROM will now launch.
