The Relationship of Files and Folders to the Desktop

  1. Launch Microsoft Word.
  2. Once open, type your name on the new document.
  3. Click on the File menu and select Save As... from the drop-down menu.
  4. In the Save In box, type Desktop or select the little arrow on the right-hand side of the Save In box and choose Desktop from the drop-down menu that appears.
  5. In the File Name box type the word Example.
  6. Click on Save.

Now minimise Word by clicking on the Minimise button on the top right-hand corner of your screen. You should now see the new file you saved visible on the Desktop as Example.doc.
