E-mail Configuration Options

Microsoft Exchange can be set up in a number of ways to assist you with Send, Read, and Audible Warning options.

Click on the Tools menu and select Options. The Options dialog box appears with a series of tabs at the top (illustrated below).

Sound Options

  1. Click on the General tab.
  2. In the When New Mail Arrives box click on Play a Sound. A tick will appear.
  3. Click on Apply at the bottom of the window, then OK.

Send Options

  1. Click on the Send tab.
  2. Click on "the item has been read" and "the item has been delivered."
  3. When you receive your e-mail, you will get a message telling you if the email has been delivered, and a second message saying it has been read (if it has).


Setting up Message Importance

  1. Click on the Send tab.
  2. Click the priority you want for the e-mail by selecting the radio (circular) button.
  3. High importance displays the message on the other person's machine with a red exclamation mark, and low with a downward-facing arrow.


Setting up Toolbars

  1. Click the View menu and select Toolbars. The toolbar should appear at the top of the screen.
  2. Click on the Tools menu, then Customise Toolbars. In the window that appears, select whichever buttons you want to appear by first clicking on them, then clicking Add.
  3. The toolbar will now display your new choices.
