Exercise 1: Create and Save a Simple Document

Open a new, blank document in Word and type in the following two paragraphs:

When you open Word, a blank document will automatically appear. The flashing line (I) or Insertion Point indicates where the text you type will appear.

You are now able to type your text onto the new document.

Saving your Document
On the Menu Bar, click File and then Save As... from the drop-down menu. Insert a floppy disk into your computer and save your document to the A: drive as 'My First Word Document'.

Alternatively, if you have your own folder on the hard drive, you can save the file there.
