Inserting Pictures and Text

Inserting Pictures
Inserting pictures can be undertaken in many ways, for example inserting a picture from a graphics package such as Corel Draw or Adobe PhotoShop. A more common method is to use pre-drawn graphics, usually called Clip Art, which are stored on your computer. For this example:

  1. Open the 'Working from Home' document.
  2. Click once between the last but one paragraph and the final paragraph. The insertion point (flashing vertical line) will appear.
  3. Click on the Insert menu, then select Picture and then Clip Art.
  4. Choose one of the Clip Art images by clicking on it once and then click Insert.
  5. The text should now appear as below, with the graphic inserted into the middle (obviously, you may have chosen a different graphic).

Inserted Picture - Example
Electronic mail (e-mail) is the key to tele-working. Documents can be written and transmitted without the use of paper, messages can be seen at any time - locations and time zones do not need to be taken into considerations as the communication is stored on the computer until the 'mailbox' is opened by the individual concerned.

It is estimated that almost two million people are now working from home in Britain. They can go into their office after rush hour and at a time which suits them. This results in a happy and productive workforce.

Inserting Text
In the same way, two documents can be merged by inserting a text file:

  1. Click the Insert menu and select File.
  2. Choose the text file you wish to insert.
  3. Click OK.
