Q. How many Jews survived the Holocaust?

A. According to 'The History Place', the initial Jewish population of Europe before the Second World War was 9,508,340. Of these, it is estimated that 5,962,129 (63%) were killed. This means that only 3,546,211 (37%) survived.

The highest number of deaths - 3,000,000 (91% of total Jewish population) - occurred in Poland. Only 300,000 (9%) survived. Over a million Jews were were also killed in Russia, representing 36% of the total Jewish population.

It is interesting to note that the number of Jews living in Germany was relatively low - 200,000 (36%) out of a total Jewish population of 566,000.
