Discussion Forum

This section doesn't need a lengthy introduction. As the information on the Home Page indicated, its purpose is to generate debate on any matters of current relevance or interest in History Education. It is expected, therefore, that the audience will consist mainly - but by no means exclusively - of teachers of history across all phases of education in Wales, Britain and, hopefully, the wider world.

As the shape of the section will be largely driven by the kinds of contributions received, it is difficult to anticipate what form it will take. Some of you may simply wish to 'let off steam'; others may wish to sustain a dialogue on some issue or other, which might influence policy-makers - who knows? Good ideas are good ideas - it doesn't matter where they come from.

All you have to do is type your responses on the electronic form provided and these will be published in this web site, followed by my reply or that of another contributor - and so on. Please don't be bashful! This can only work if you decide to make it work.

To get things started, I offer two items; the first is a preliminary view on current proposals for History as part of Wales Curriculum 2000, and the second is an article of mine dealing with the thorny subject of historical interpretations.
