String Instruments

The violin, viola, cello and bass are virtually identical except for size and string dimensions. The various parts are constructed from different kinds of wood e.g. spruce, maple, pine and ebony. When the construction is complete, the instrument is given several coats of varnish. It is the combination of the wood and varnish which gives these instruments their paticular tonal qualities.
