Tips on Structure:

When developing a structure for your short story, make sure that it:

is short - it may seem obvious, but the most important thing to consider when structuring your story is that you have a very limited number of words to tell your story.   Every word must be of importance.

is punchy - it is necessary to develop the story very quickly.  You don't have the luxury of being able to develop complex ideas and situations slowly - you have to establish the plot and introduce your main characters, all in the first few paragraphs.

has a turning point - a pivotal moment within the story - it could be something that is said, or an action.  It could be part way through the story, allowing the story to reach its conclusion, or it could be the conclusion of the story.  Either way, it is important that your story have a moment of illumination or conclusion

builds on previous events and develops logically to its conclusion
