Your assignment is to write a short story of between 700 and 1,000 words.
This is quite a difficult task, precisely because it is so short.
The first thing you have to decide is what sort of story you want to write. You have a choice of four genres, or types of story.
Look at the list and pick the type of story you would like to write.
